The Ohio North Coaches Association is an educational forum created to raise the level of soccer knowledge and coaching expertise.
Attendance is by reservation-only and coaches can register by e-mailing Director of Coaching Tom Turner at Coaching@ohionorthsoccer.org. There is no charge for US Youth Soccer members.

A European Soccer Adventure
Presenter: Tavi Muresan
In March, Tavi Muresan traveled to Belgium and the Netherlands with US Soccer to renew his “A” License. The tour included visits to Anderlecht, FC Brugge and Ajax. For this session, Tavi talks about his observations and experiences with European club soccer.

US Soccer Coaching Education & In-Club Mentoring
Presenters: Reid Ayers and Tom Turner
As US Soccer begins the slow process of moving coaching education towards a “local-mentor” approach, this session looks at the practical implications of developing a club-based education model. Topics include culture change, the journey from novice to expert, and the use of assessment tools to improve performance.

An Evening with Timo Liekoski and Jay Hoffman
Veterans of the North American Soccer League (NASL), Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), Major League Soccer (MLS), Women's United Soccer Association (WUSA), US National Teams and US Soccer, Timo Liekoski and Jay Hoffman came to Cleveland to coach the Force in the early 1980’s and have accumulated a wealth of soccer experience stretching back to the 1970’s. The evening will start with some observations and reflections and then move into a Question and Answer format.

The new US Soccer Professional Pathway
Presenters: Vlad Muresan, Alan Naigeon, Anton Trifonovs and Marko Raduka
In 2016, four Ohio North coaches were accepted into the new US Soccer Professional Pathway, which requires multiple visits to a national site, such as Bradenton, FL or Casa Grande, AZ, and the completion of multiple coaching and written assignments during developmental periods at home. For this session, Vlad Muresan, Alan Naigeon, Anton Trifonovs and Marko Raduka share their experiences and provide recommendations on how Ohio North coaches can prepare for the C, B and A levels.

7v7: Easier to win, harder to coach.

Fall 2017 marks the start of the official US Soccer mandate on small-sided games. With Ohio North and a number of states actually increasing numbers from 6v6 to 7v7, the new format and the associated changes to the playing rules have significant technical and tactical implications for youth coaches. This session explores the technical / tactical challenges of the 7v7 game and looks at the implications of training for long-term development.
