Obituary for Raymond D. "Doug" Everhart

As you may have heard, the Northwest Ohio soccer community lost a hero this week.  Doug Everhart graciously volunteered his time, talent and efforts to several clubs, children and young adults in our area for over 30 years.   His service to the game involved time as a coach, assistant coach, referee, treasurer, league president, vice president, advisor and friend.  He was instrumental in the operations of Maumee Youth Soccer, Maumee Express,  NWOYSL, the Northwest Ohio Festival Tournament and the Kumpe Scholarship, just to name a few.  We will miss Doug’s contagious big smile, tye-dye t-shirts, shorts and of course, his sandals, even on the coldest of days in northwest Ohio.  He will be remembered as a champion of the game.  His legacy can easily be summed up by the following perfect statement---one hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in or the kind of car I drove, but the world will be  a better place because I was important in the life of a child.

Doug’s family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Maumee Youth Soccer.  Contributions can be made payable to Maumee Youth Soccer and sent to NWOYSL, 1620 Market Place Drive Suite C, Maumee Oh  43537.Doug-Everhart?obId=2687667#/obituaryInfo
