ODP

Welcome to the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program

Purpose
The US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program is part of the identification and training process
for the U.S. Soccer Youth National teams.

•  The primary mission of ODP at the state level is to identify players to advance to the US
Youth soccer Midwest ODP ID Camp. The ID Camp includes players from all 14 midwestern states: North
and South Dakota, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri,
Nebraska, North and South Ohio and Wisconsin.

In Ohio North, regional-level players are identified through the following ODP-Select process.

•  The secondary mission of ODP at the state level is to expose players to the more patient,
build-up style of the U.S. National Teams. This process involves fall, winter and spring training.

Age Groups
•    ODP participation is based on birth year (January 1st – December 31st).
•    The 2018-2019 age groups for boys and girls are 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004.
•    The fall training is for players who are not enrolled in high school. These age groups are
      2007’s, 2006’s and 2005’s.
•    Players born in 2004 who are not enrolled in high school are welcome to participate.
•    Training for players enrolled in high school begins in November.

Fall Training Centers
•     The fall ODP program is comprised of six (6) training / identification sessions, scheduled at

•     Participation at Strongsville is by invitation–only with the exception of the 2007 birth
year, while Perrysburg is open-enrollment. Both training centers are organized Technical Director
       Tom Turner.
•     Players are invited to participate in ODP through the following pathways:
o Top players from the ODP 2017-2018 season.
o Top players competing at the Premier level and nominated by a club coach.
o Top players competing at the Premier level nominated by an ODP staff coach.
•     Participation at every training session is not required.

Winter Training / Assessment Process
•     Participation for non-high school players is by invitation-only.
•     Extenuating circumstances aside, non-high school players must attend at least one (1) fall
training session to be eligible for the winter training pools.
•     All age group pools will train approximately once per month between November and March.
•     The initial list of invitees to the Midwest ID Camp will be posted in late March / early
       April.
•     Participation at every training session is not required.
•     Technical Director Tom Turner is responsible for the selection process.
